A year has passed since I've taken an actual breath, it seems. No, 2009 was not uneventful, as I'd hoped it would be. In fact, everything has changed...
1) I left North Carolina in the rearview mirror. I couldn't take it anymore. The solitude, the rotten neighbors, and a seemingly endless array of bad luck. Not to mention I'm not used to being the minority. Culture shock much? Oh yes. I am back in Virginia in my hometown. It's been a blessing and a curse thus far.
2) I have a ring on my finger. Yes, the finger. Fateful hands threw me a blast from the past; I am now married to a guy I knew 20 years ago when I was still just a pup. He's the best husband, father, and friend I could hope for.
3) I'm earning my MSN. Grad school is tolerable -- so far. You could be my patient in a year and a half's time. Sorry. :)
4) The biggest change is sleeping in her bassinet at the moment... On March 25 of last year, it was confirmed by the gyne docs that we were expecting. Read the last post to see why the date is relevent...
As I said, it wasn't an uneventful year...
My brother is still in North Carolina. Yes, my dad is still alive. Go figure. My older kids are....older. And getting harder to understand, as teenagers do. Days are passing quickly. Nights are quiet (except for when the baby girl is hungry). My restless Caribbean soul has been sleeping, I think...but I feel it waking up. Slowly but surely...
And yes, our new daughter will be raised on Buffett philosophy and sunshine... I'm looking forward to this new chapter, yes. The page has finally turned.
I know that when you left the area, you never imagined that your life would take the track it has, but from reading your blog, it seems like things are working out despite the changes. I hope you continue to write. Send me an e-mail sometime or call and we can catch up. Take care! :-)
